Obama and Democrats Weak Attempt to Untangle the Obamacare Web

President Obama and his administration are scrambling to “fix” Obamacare to appease the demands of Democrat lawmakers who are utterly embarrassed – and whose prestigious positions are threatened – by the debacle.

“I think it’s fair to say the rollout has been rough so far,” Mr. Obama said Thursday afternoon as he gave the country an update on the botched Obamacare rollout. “I completely get how upsetting this can be to a lot of Americans,” he said.

He added, “we’re going to do everything we can to help Americans who have received these cancellation notices,” but he also remarked that he “will not accept proposals that are just another brazen attempt to repeal the overall law.”  He said it’s unacceptable to return to the previous system.

In light of this desperation, it’s important to remember how often he and Democrat supporters of the law, like Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK)insisted that Obamacare is “the law of the land,”

How often were prescient conservatives mocked for sounding the alarm on Obamacare and told to “get over it.”

While causing a government shutdown in order to defend the failed law, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) 13% sneered:

We’re not going to bow to Tea Party anarchists who deny the mere fact that Obamacare is the law.  We will not bow to Tea Party anarchists who refuse to accept that the Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare is constitutional.

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) expressed her unflinching support for the Affordable Care Act a solid 11 days after the Obamacare rollout had become a demonstrable failure:

I am standing in this election as a supporter of the Affordable Care Act.

She added:

We did not wake up one morning and declare this the law.  The people of the United States declared this through us as their representatives.  If they do not like it, they can unelect us.

Are Democrats are beginning to see why conservatives wanted to stop Obamacare?  Presumably, the President and the Democrats are hearing the millions horrible stories about people losing the healthcare plans they liked, even though he promised otherwise.  That’s why Mr. Obama is pulling the public relations stunt at all.

But Obamacare cannot be fixed through President Obama’s unworkable and illegal recommendation.   Heritage explains:

According to press reports, the President’s “plan would allow people to keep their plans into 2014,” by allowing the sale of insurance plans that don’t meet the law’s new requirements.

There’s one problem—the President’s promise that his new “plan” can allow people to keep their plans is just as flawed and false as his original “like your plan/keep it” pledge. The law itself is clear: Obamacare’s new benefit mandates—the requirement to cover all individuals with pre-existing conditions, the new “essential benefits,” and mandates increasing the percentage of health costs insurance plans must cover—all take effect on January 1, 2014.

Sen. Landrieu’s desperate attempt to save face is equally unworkable.  Stuart Varney discussed just how imminent Obamacare’s complete collapse is on Fox News Thursday morning:

Monica Crowley hit the nail on the head Thursday morning when she said, “The bottom line is that there is no fix to Obamacare.”

Conservatives wanted to defund Obamacare, to prevent the debacle Americans are currently suffering.  We will continue to fight Obamacare, because there is no other way to protect America from being harmed by Obamacare.
