You Think You’re Dreading Obamacare? Your Doctor Is Too

Reports that doctors are dreading Obamacare are a dime a dozen.  We frequently hear about doctors who are quitting their profession prematurely because they want to avoid the nightmare of red tape, new bureaucracy, paperwork, and regulations that have come – and will continued to get worse — with Obamacare.

Obamacare severely degrades the patient-doctor relationship.  The Heritage Foundation’s Alyene Senger recently explained:

[Obamacare’s new programs] will create powerful economic incentives to comply with standardized guidelines at the expense of individual patient care, encouraging doctors and other medical professionals to “check the box” and achieve a high and financially beneficial score as a condition of participating in the government’s health programs.

Similarly, Washington Times piece reported the thoughts of neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson:

“It’s extremely bad,” Mr. Carson said, speaking about the bureaucracy of the new health care plan and the reams of new documentation that’s required as part of its implementation. “I haven’t talked to anybody who’s very happy about this, quite frankly. … They have basically taken a lot of independence away from hospitals, away from physicians, and really have taken the joy out of it.”

Senger also explains:

No class of American professionals will be more negatively impacted by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly referred to as Obamacare, than physicians.

Third-party payment arrangements are already compromising the independence and integrity of the medical profession, and Obamacare reinforces the worst of these features.

Specifically, physicians will be subject to more government regulation and oversight, and will be increasingly dependent on unreliable government reimbursement for medical services. Doctors, already under tremendous pressure, will only see their jobs become more difficult.

Because of Obamacare, there will be a massive shortage of quality physicians in America:

The people of the United States are already facing a severe physician shortage. According to the American Association of Medical Colleges, by 2020, the nation will need an additional 91,500 doctors to meet medical demand.

Conservatives know better.  The patient-doctor relationship should be respected.  Contact your representative by following this link, and tell them to defund Obamacare entirely.
