The Best of the Forge

The Left and some weak congressional Republicans have been flinging insults at the conservative strategy to stop Obamacare: defunding the entire law.  It’s apparently “the dumbest idea” Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) has ever heard.  The liberal media continues to assert a potential government shutdown would be politically devastating for the GOP, especially in the upcoming 2014 election. The truth, however, is that not only would this strategy stop Obamacare, but it would actually be good for the GOP, if history is any indication.

The Left’s negativity speaks volumes. They’re obviously not really concerned with the future of the GOP.  One liberal blogger said that the strategy is “dangerously insane for the party.”  But they’re scared silly of the defund strategy because they know it’s the best way to end Obamacare.

Obamacare was founded on false promises about quality, affordable healthcare for all.  It turned out to be a bureaucratic nightmare.  And now that it’s failing – which someDemocrats have begun to acknowledge – the new plan for the Left is to lie about conservative efforts to stop Obamacare.

Food and Energy Prices Could Decrease if Congress Makes the Right Move

We all have to eat and use various forms of energy to survive and live well in America.  So should the quotas and rules and regulations handed down from Washington make it harder for us to do so?  No! But that’s what’s happening.

Did you know the law currently dictates to Americans that there must be 15 billion gallons (and no more) of corn-based ethanol and another 21 billion gallons of non-corn biofuels in the nation’s fuel supply by 2022?

If that sounds absurd to you, it’s because it is.

Conservatives certainly don’t want Americans to have to pay more for food and energy.  In order to decrease costs, Heritage’s Nicolas Loris suggests that Congress should completely end the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

President Obama’s Green Thumb Helps Insider Trading, Not the Economy

President Obama’s Department of Energy (DOE) likes to gamble with taxpayer money on politically favored green energy companies the private sector is too wise to touch.  The Washington Free Beacon has identified yet another instance of the DOE wasting taxpayer money on a failed green energy company, which may now have to declare bankruptcy:

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has suspended stimulus payments to a major green energy company after the company said it is having trouble finding financing and may have to declare bankruptcy.

ECOtality admitted that possibility in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last week. Lackluster sales caused revenues to fall significantly short of its expenses, the company said.

ECOtality has received more than $100 million in federal funds, the bulk of which came in a $99.8 million stimulus award for the construction of its electric vehicle charging stations.

Mike Needham on MSNBC’s Daily Rundown to Discuss Obamacare Train Wreck

Heritage Action CEO Mike Needham debated DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse Tuesday on MSNBC’s The Daily Rundown on the topic of Obamacare.  Needham emphasized that President Obama’s failed healthcare law is the most pressing matter Congress and the American people must contend with this summer.

Democrats like Woodhouse want to make this summer about immigration and “climate change.”  Anything that will buy them time so that their failed healthcare law won’t be center stage.  Of course, they have no good reason to put the spotlight on Obamacare.  Having an actual discussion about its failures would be political suicide for them, and they know it.  So they must resort to playing politics with America’s healthcare future.  They must delay the most egregious aspects of the law, like the employer mandate.

Silly Liberal Pundits Want Congress to Treat Americans Like Doormats

If liberal pundits really think the effort to defund Obamacare is useless and hopeless, you really can’t tell by how they’re reacting to the idea.  We have explained in great detail how this plan can and must work if America is to be spared from Obamacare’s damaging effects.

If the Left thinks it’s so implausible that Republicans might vote to defund Obamacare while still funding the government, why don’t they use their  time to write about something else?

The Washington Establishment – lovers of limited big-government – is really bitter about Mr. Obama’s unpopular, unworkable takeover of the healthcare industry in America.
