53% of Americans Favor Repeal of Obamacare

A majority of Americans continue to want President Obama’s government healthcare-takeover law repealed, according to the latest Rasmussen report. Week after week, more than half of likely voters want the law repealed. Forty-two percent strongly favor repeal, while only 30% strongly oppose.

With the latest controversy, we are reminded exactly why this law needs to be repealed in its entirety. The law had already trampled the commerce clause of the U.S. Constitution by forcing Americans to purchase health insurance simply for existing (luckily the Supreme Court will be deciding whether requiring people to purchase something on the condition of existence is constitutional or not later this year). The law also set up the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which is a panel of 15 unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats charged with cutting Medicare costs. We all know where that will lead: a rationing of care.

Now, Obamacare has decided it can trample the First Amendment and force religious-affiliated institutions to provide (free of charge) services that violate their beliefs. It is the anti-conscience mandate, and it further elevates Obamacare above the United States Constitution and above the rights of the American people and faith-based organizations. With religious liberty now crushed, which right will we lose next?
