Harry Reid Announces Liberal Super Committee Senators

The first three members of the “super Congress” have been announced. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) selected Senators Patty Murray (D-WA), Max Baucus (D-MT), and John Kerry (D-MA). Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have until August 16th to choose their representative members.

We’ve all heard of these three Senators, but what are we really getting with them on the “team?”

Senator Murray is the Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), meaning she’s not just a lawmaker, she’s also in the same political pundit league as Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL). Outrageous statements and “provocative” commentary are par for the course. Take her speech to high school students back in 2002, where she claims terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden is good for the Middle East:

“He’s been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. He’s made their lives better.”

Like many liberals, she also loves to attack the billionaire Koch Brothers as a means to fundraise while ignoring big-government billionaires such as George Soros. What’s more interesting about Senator Murray, however, is that she turned around and asked the Kochs for campaign donations.

Then we have Senator Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. There is much to say, but this little nugget says it all.  He believed that President Obama’s February budget was good for the country:

“The President’s budget…strengthens our economy…”

He later voted against it since it actually did nothing to strengthen the economy, tackle entitlements or limit out-of-control government spending.

Senator John Kerry is also in the group. You know, the former presidential candidate who is running around trying to convince Congress to approve the Law of the Sea Treaty, which would undermine American sovereignty. His most recent atrocity has given the liberal-leaning media their newest talking point for the U.S. credit downgrade:

“I believe this is, without question, the tea party downgrade.”

Right, because without the Tea Party insistence on cutting spending with the debt limit increase, a “clean” increase would have occurred, something President Obama and liberals continually called “routine” and not a big deal.

Had that happened, America could have been in line for a downgrade from all three ratings agencies. Instead, thanks to consistent conservative pressure, we have some semblance of a plan to get it back our AAA rating. A “clean” increase could have cemented that downgrade without question.

Those are the only three “super Congress” appointees we have to deal with right now. How three outspoken liberals will impact the committee’s deliberations is anyone’s guess, but these three aren’t likely to agree to something that doesn’t damage the economy.
