Democrats Running from Obama Policies

In addition to the recent rejection of President Obama’s budget proposal and his “clean” debt ceiling vote, the left is now calling for spending cuts and distancing themselves from their own votes.

Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) wanted to delay a provision of the Dodd-Frank financial overhaul bill that he voted for last year. Earlier this year, the 1099 provision of the healthcare overhaul law was repealed. Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) wants to reappropriate stimulus funds to pay for unemployment benefits.

Not surprisingly, many of the Democrats who are running from President Obama’s agenda over the last two years are facing tough re-elections next year. Five Democrats voted against the DREAM Act last year, helping Republicans kill the bill. At least four Senate Democrats have also expressed dismay over the President’s cap and trade bill.

Add all this to the growing number of liberals who want some kind of a budget from party leaders, and a picture is painted of a party desperately trying to run from their record. Just more evidence that the President’s agenda is not working for the country.
